Testing 1 2 3…Away We Go
Over the course of my amateur media career, I’ve “gone live”, tape delayed, blogged, tweeted, tumbled, posted, edited, and even used a pencil & paper. Thanks to the people at the Hub, I have a new way to spew forth opinions, ideas, topics, and thoughts. SportsHub is now part of my vocabulary…we’ll see how badly I can screw this one up.
Random thoughts always come easiest…let’s start with that and the Offense.
Anyone else tired of hearing the term “throwing motion” and Taylor Martinez? Get the ball from point A to point B. Nobody complained about Scott Frost’s motion his Senior year. Oh, that’s right, the Team was winning. Funny what people don’t talk about when the score is in our favor. I am more interested in decision-making, leadership, and efficiency than I am about mechanics.
You will get tired of hearing me extole the virtues of Rex Burkhead. Unfortunately, if we are talking about him so much this season, it probably means that we are relying on him TOO much. He is a horse and we need to ride him, but more players need to make plays than #22.
I can’t wait to see if all of this Receiver “playmaker” hype is for real. I know that Kenny Bell is fast and has some real Leadership qualities. I think Tim Marlowe is dependable and quick. I know that Quincy Enunwa has BIG arms. The rest is kind of uncertain right now. How much has Jamal Turner improved? Any newcomers in the mix? Stay tuned on this one.
No team has ever won a Big Ten title with an average Offensive Line. Quick, name the starters of this year’s OLine. Ummmmm….you get my drift? The development of this group is the single most important aspect of the team, in my eyes. This bunch, led by walk-ons Long, Choi, and Jackson HAVE to be good, very good for us to accomplish our goals.
I like Tim Beck. I like his style. I like his demeanor, and I really like his creativity. Year two under an Off. Coordinator usually shows much better. Having experience coming back will help. Will it equate to more wins? We’ll see.
Next time, Blackshirt thoughts.
