“Too Many” of This & That and Some Good Things
Another disappointing loss to a Team that we “coulda/shoulda”/didn’t beat.
Want to knee-jerk? Go ahead. Want to give up? Feel free. Want to keep supporting & remain loyal…please do.
Too Many:
Penalties - Not just stopping drives but contributed to the field position issues.
Key Turnover(s) - A. Abdullah (who played great) would love to have his fumble back. That start to the 2nd Q killed any momentum created by a huge FG to end the Half. Still a chance late when a poor decision by TM & a forced throw ended up in UCLA’s hands to kill a late drive.
Bad Match-Ups - LB’s on RBs in space is never a good scenario. Mora’s Offense used this advantage very well.
Missed Tackles - Time after time, our Defense had their hands on the Bruins but they slipped away. Is it Angles/Technique or Athleticism that is the issue?
Yards - I can’t believe 653 yds given up. Disgusting, crazy, and poor. If you think it bothered you, how do you think the Def coaches feel?
Key Injuries on Offense - When things aren’t going well in the second half on the road, you rely on Senior leadership. Unfortunately, Rex and Tim Marlowe are hurt. Ben Cotton was hurting and not 100%. Not excuses, just factors. Better deal w/ it though because guys get hurt in Fball.
Believe it or not, there WERE some good things…those of you that know me understand that I have to leave with something positive.
Ameer Abdullah is a great, versatile back. Maybe the best “2nd Teamer” in the country.
Taylor Martinez was good at times. He threw well in the first half and is still fast when running straight ahead.
